Where to hang a mirror in the living room? A practical and stylish guide
A mirror in the living room is an excellent way to optically enlarge the space, add elegance to the interior and create a focal point of the arrangement.
A mirror is not only a practical element of interior design but also an important decorative detail that can visually enlarge a space and add elegance to it.
To enjoy the effect for a long time, it is worth ensuring proper and stable mirror installation. In this article, we will guide you step by step on how to mount a mirror using hangers to achieve the best effect and ensure household safety.
What will you need?
A mirror with hangers
Foam spacers
Measuring tape and pencil
Spirit level
Degreasing agent
Cloth
Drill with the appropriate drill bit
Wall plugs and hooks
Pliers/hammer
The first step is to properly prepare the mirror's surface. Place it on a stable, flat surface in the position in which you plan to hang it (vertical or horizontal). Then thoroughly clean the areas where the hangers and spacers will be attached. It is worth using a degreasing agent and drying the surface thoroughly with a soft, clean cloth.
Remove the protective foil from the adhesive on the metal hangers. Attach them evenly, maintaining a distance of about 6 cm from the edge of the mirror. Make sure the surface to which the hangers adhere is completely dry and free of grease. Remember that hangers reach full strength only after 24 hours! Therefore, before finally hanging the mirror, be sure to wait this time.
Foam spacers ensure that the mirror adheres evenly to the wall. Remove the protective foil from the adhesive and attach them to the back of the mirror, also maintaining about a 6 cm distance from the edge. These spacers prevent uneven adherence of the mirror and protect it from potential damage.
Using a measuring tape, carefully measure the distance between the centers of the mounted hangers. Then transfer this measurement to the wall, marking the appropriate points with a pencil. Use a spirit level to ensure that the marked points are at the same height. This will ensure the mirror hangs evenly and aesthetically.
Drill holes in the designated spots using a drill with an appropriately chosen drill bit. Be careful not to damage any hidden electrical or water installations in the wall while drilling. Insert wall plugs into the drilled holes and then screw in/hammer the hooks. Ensure the hooks are stable, as they will bear the weight of the mirror.
After 24 hours have passed since attaching the hangers, carefully hang the mirror on the hooks, sliding it down from above. (If the mirror is heavy or large, consider mounting it with the help of another person.) Make sure the mirror is securely fastened and that all elements are properly aligned. Thanks to the foam spacers, the mirror should adhere evenly to the wall without unsightly gaps.
Mounting a mirror with hangers is not complicated but requires precision and proper preparation. By following the steps described, you can ensure that your mirror will be hung securely, stably, and aesthetically. It is important to remember to wait the full 24 hours so the adhesive can fully reach its strength. Now you can enjoy a perfectly mounted mirror that will decorate your interior for many years.
